BCUG/NAVUG Magazine: Read our Featured Article by Maher Malki

Western Computer’s NAV Program Manager, Maher Malki, is known for his expertise and contributions in the Dynamics NAV community. He wrote the featured article for the current issue of BCUG/NAVUG magazine, entitled Business Central: The Ins, The Outs, the Roundabouts.

In the article, Maher does an excellent job of providing a clear explanation of some important differences between Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics NAV. In addition to the cloud-based and on-premises distinction, there are some new features (as of October 2018) that are only available in Business Central. These include single-click journal entries, the ability to drop journals into Excel, and the capability of then publishing those journals back to Business Central.

Maher also addresses new deployment options available for Business Central, including an on-prem solution that allows you to deploy locally to the hardware of your choice. In this scenario, you still get the security and benefits of a cloud tenant for intelligent cloud scenarios.

BCUG/NAVUG Learning Opportunities

One of the most valuable benefits of the BCUG/NAVUG is a strong commitment to education. Whether you are learning from our sessions and events, or from your fellow users, there is no shortage of enthusiasm to help the entire community grow and thrive. Here are a few ways we stay involved with the BCUG/NAVUG and encourage you to take advantage of all it has to offer.

Annual BCUG/NAVUG Summit User Group Conference

We understand the importance of User Groups to our customers and have been actively involved with the BCUG/NAVUG Summit User Group Conference for many years. It’s such a great place to network and learn about all the features and functionality within the solutions. We support the conference as a platinum sponsor and had over 100 customers in attendance this year! It was a real honor to treat them to a special customer appreciation reception during the conference.

Western Computer NAV experts presented during several popular sessions, earning us a spot on the Best of Summit list. Our sessions included a variety of topics and training, including inventory costing and reconciliation, Cortana intelligence, managing fixed assets and lessons learned from deploying Dynamics 365 Business Central. We will also be presenting these topics virtually so be sure to bookmark our upcoming webinar page for updates!

Local BCUG/NAVUG Chapter Meetings

We also stay involved in our BCUG/NAVUG local chapters because not everyone can attend the larger user group events. Your local chapter meetings are an excellent way to meet other users and Dynamics partners in your area. They also provide an opportunity to learn in a small group environment and ask questions from Dynamics experts in person.
